Mostly Black

The dream of my life was to be able to paint every day. Now I have the time. Every morning I start around 8.30,painting for three or four hours, and going back to the picture in late afternoon or sometimes later in the evening. I don’t have to go anywhere —the beautiful landscape is in front of our house;  I have a wonderful view over the valley from my studio with a lot of space;my flowers on the porch are still blooming and the leaves are getting colorful. So,I have had a very productive month —two big paintings and one smaller one are done.

“Mostly Black” was done some months ago. The inspiration for it came from our table cloth and the black paper that I was working with on it. It is a collage,32″by  40″.

I have been getting ready for the annual Ithaca Art Trail. This is an event where 48 artists in the Ithaca area open their studios to the public on two weekends. Please visit me and look at my paintings, collages, and installations. I will also be taking out my “old” surrealistic paintings. You might be interested to see them. They are very different from what I am doing now.

The open studios are October 5 and 6 and October 12 and 13,from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm.  I am looking forward to your visit.

At the State of the Art Gallery this month is a show by many of the artists who participate in the Art Trail.

Have a good month of October!
